  • Both David and Julia had old red brick walls and concrete floors. David's path was 70's fleck tiles.

  • David suggested, with Julia's agreement, that we restyle and rebuild the two fronts together.

  • We 'undid' the two walls and took up the concrete and tiles from each side.

  • We used reclaimed stone bricks and copings to reconstruct both walls, both brick and coping matching the existing stonework on both houses.

  • Both paths and bay floors were tiled with black slate. David's bay front included a raised bed for planting and Julia's was left plain.

  • Reclaimed slate fire mantels were used for the front and back steps.

  • Rope edgings were used to denote a planting area between the two terraces.

  • David's raised bed was planted with a selection of appropriate low maintenance shrubs, some less common.
